Taking Advantage

The rainy Northwest decided to cooperate with us a little bit. Well, at least for one day. After a week of fairly intense rain, today we got a little break. Rivers came down a little bit, visibility to 3-4 feet, water temp up just enough and still a nice cloud cover overhead. At risk of breaking a fairly impressive streak, it was time to get out of the house and enjoy a little change in scenery.

Made my first swings of the winter season on the Sandy River today. Still a little bit early for good numbers of fish, but it beats the hell out of another day doing, well, anything else. Not another soul in sight and had my choice of water. Walked in, tied up and started swinging. Within 15 minutes, my first tug. Starting to like these odds!

Of course this meant I wouldn't get another tug the rest of the day, which held true. But the weather was great, success was had and it is always nice to get on the board early, when it comes to chasing winter steel.

And in completely unrelated fashion... enjoy another fine selection from our friends over at BOP.

Flight of the Intruder

So cabin fever got the better of me again today. What better cure, than spending hours and hours on you tube, again! I was enjoying myself, watching anything and everything you could think of. You start out watching your favorite Poison music video. Then, through the magic of random links presented to you by the "Google Machine", I eventually ended up here.

Tell me, were you able to hold back the tears? Be honest. Something about this soundtrack. I am sobbing like a little girl over here. Seriously, isn't this from that shitty love scene in the movie Pearl Harbor, right before they get blown up?

Enjoy.

Funny Stuff!

The rain has brought water, lots and lots of water. Everything is a little high right now, so we are stuck inside, doing everything imaginable to fight cabin fever. In case you are as well...

Bring on the rain!

The cold weather has finally subsided here in the Northwest, and with it the fishing with frozen guides. Although we were still able to produce some nice "October Brights" from the streams, it certainly had slowed. But not for long. The winds of change, they are a blowin'.

Today was a new day. A very, very wet day. And the remainder of the week looks like much of the same. Milder weather, with lots of precip. This is not all bad though. We have been waiting anxiously, intruders at the ready, for the rivers to climb and the first winter fish to move. It looks like this time is upon us. We will be out this week, in our favorite winter run waters, scouting for the first signs of chrome. Reports will follow.

One other random thought for you. Picked up the new Skagit Master dvd the other day. Pretty entertaining, and very educational for those looking to be "in the know". Check it out.
